We hope to keep all of our cross-provincial friends, and those abroad, updated with this blog. And maybe even hear from some who are long lost friends.

Car Show

Well it's about time I (Tim) wrote a blog about my latest adventures. I thought it would be fun to take our new car on a maiden voyage. Well, you know, it's first long trip anyhow. And surprise, surprise, I still like it. Which is quite the feat considering I took it to Calgary to see my sister and the Calgary International Auto Show. The risk of course being that I would find something that I liked better and then not want our car any more. Well, I did. In fact I found many cars that I liked better. However, if you take out all the two seater cars and the ones completely out of my price range, it is a very short list. Therefore I have decided that I will make up my own categories and rate the best car that I saw at the show.
For the coolest Concept car: I have to say that even though it is a Ford, the Ford Shelby GR-1 was definitely the coolest. Others like the Chevy Camaro was nice, It was a little over the top, looking like a gangely teenager on steroids. I was very disappointed that the new Dodge Challenger was not there though.

For coolest car that I will never, ever be able to afford: That would have to be the Austin-Martin DB-9. What a work of art! Unfortunately they had it roped off so I couldn't drool directly on the glass.

For the nicest interior: I was surprised but I thought the nicest interior that I saw was in the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. It had a generous portion of gorgeous cream coloured leather that was offset by a burnt orange suede that just looked stunning. Perhaps it just stood out to me because it was different. Surprisingly enough, out of all the cars there, the nice interiors all had a very similar look. But the Eclipse stood out as nice, cool and different.

Funniest thing at the show: OK, I hope no-one is offended at this, but the funniest thing for me was watching a rather large lady, squeeze herself into a Mini Cooper and then say, "this is kinda small". No kidding, it's called a MINI!

Our future vehicle: Well there where two vehicles that I thought would be great for our family after they have depreciated for a couple years. The first was the new Hyundai Santa Fe. I sat in a Metallic Red one with very nice creamy beige leather seats. It did have the "old man wood" as my sister would say, but it was very nice. The interior was beautiful and very comfortable. It had the AWD and the third row of seats for a total of seven. I also sat in a Mitsubishi Outlander which had some very cool innovative things and was also very nice. Great alternatives to the dreaded Mini-Van.

My trip was a lot of fun and I had a blast with my sister. Thanks Lisa for the fun, the Mexican food, and the Krispy Kream dough nuts (which I forgot to bring with me and I'm sure she is enjoying them). I was telling Anna about an article in Car and Driver that I read, apparently a Hyundai Sonata V6 just like mine was clocked at 147 MPH in the states. That's 250 KPH! I was threatening to try it out on my trip (think of the time I would save). But don't worry, I didn't even get close to that. Slow and steady wins the race, and gets a sore bum. Till the next trip.

Tim, did you just comment on your own blog or was that Anna?

I had a really fun time too. I'm glad you put the "butt" picture of the Ford car in, because I promised my readers that you might. Okay, might isn't much of a promise.

Speaking of next trips, when are you coming out with the family? I want to take Nadia to the zoo! She needs more quality time with Auntie.
