the Sawatzky Nomad

We hope to keep all of our cross-provincial friends, and those abroad, updated with this blog. And maybe even hear from some who are long lost friends.

Something Fun

The church had a young families BBQ and it was fun. We all agree that it was very hot but we couldn't complain because we got to hang out in a beautiful place - the Doell's back yard.
Nadia has never had some much fun, and never been so dirty. That hair do she's sporting is not even from the wind. It's all natural - hand styled.

She had lots of fun running down the little hill and going to see the chickens. She played ball with the other kids and snatched lots of good food.

Uncertainty

For the past week I have been gripped with anxiety and uncertainty. And the stress has made me sick. As I'm finding my feet again planted on God's strength I found this encouragement. I was listening to a Podcast sermon by Irwin McManus (the link is in our links section called Mosaic) and I was compelled by what he said. So I took the time to write it out. Perhaps it's only powerful to me because I heard the whole sermon. But I thought I'd share it and see if anyone has a comment. Annalisa

"I don’t know how life is going to play out.

Life is surprise, mystery, uncertainty.

We need to recognize that there are moments in life that you have to decide, is my life going to be about me or will I give my life to something greater than me?

Am I going to live my life trapped in fear, paralyzed by uncertainty or am I going to walk in confidence because of the certainty I have and then laugh in the face of uncertainty?

Because in the end we don’t need to know, we just need to go.

What would I do if I wasn’t afraid of anything?"

"I have confidence because I’m living for what is true, right, good and beautiful."

Costume Party

Nadia has been into dressing up and doing impressions. Here as you can all tell, she is a porcupine! A girl porcupine.

And here she is sporting her scuba-diving outfit. Her mask is a little less than water tight, but we're working on it.

Holiday's, Holiday's ... Nadia vs the West Coast Pop Star

Here is our fun loving, decked out little girl. Oma (and Mommy) just couldn't resist the shades. A girls gotta accessorize right!
She had quite the time truckin' around with her shades. Although it didn't last long. Soon she found the cat and tried to share her shades. It was amusing to watch her try to put them on the cat.

Holiday's, Holiday's ... Nadia vs the Vancouver Aquarium

Ahh, the much anticipated Vancouver Aquarium. We just can't go to the Lower Mainland without a trip to the Aquarium. Nadia was fascinated beyond belief. She loved the fish both tropical and fresh water, mainly because she could climb on the rocks to get a better view of the tanks.
One of Nadia's favourite parts was the Amazon area. She ooooed and aaaawed at those turtles for the longest time. She thought the birds were intriguing too.

But, I think she had the most fun in the kids play area...doesn't that always happen. She was quite delighted to wear that grey vest with a shark fin on the back. She started a fad - all the other kids put on the vest too.

Tim tells me this is a Snapper. If that's correct than this is my favourite type of fish to eat in SK.

Holiday's, Holiday's ... Nadia vs Oma & Opa

Well, Nadia did play shy with Opa & Oma for the first few days, but after that she embraced them like one of the family...oh wait, they are family.

Opa found out that Nadia is interested in building. Or maybe she just liked the tape measure. But Nadia doesn't just love Opa for his big kid toys; she even fell asleep on him one evening - that's a complete rarity!
She had lots of fun going on journeys in the yard and dancing with Oma. Nadia's a little crazy that way...she loves to dance, and the louder the music the better.

Oma read Nadia her favourite book, "How to Speak Moo". And we busted a gut listening to Oma's cow impressions. Thanks for being so fun Oma!

There she is, asleep on Opa...looks rather uncomfortable! But neither one seem to mind. So I think in the end Opa won the Nadia vs. Oma & Opa contest.

Holiday's, Holiday's ... Nadia vs the CAT

Recently, we went to Langley, BC for vacation to visit Annalisa's parents and grand parents. It was hot and sunny the whole week, a rarity for the Coast. Firstly, we would like to thank all of our devote fans who have continued to support this blog by sending large sums of money. Actually, we'd like to thank Annalisa's Dad, Mom, Grandpa and Grandma for paying our way out there. Thanks!

Nadia vs the CAT... Round 1: Nadia lunges with shrieks of joy toward the cat. Round 2: the cat jumps away and lies on the ground a foot away. Round 3: Nadia lunges again but this time she tries to pick up the cat. The cat is amused and does nothing. Round 4: the cat jumps away and lays on the ground eager to see what Nadia will try next. Round 5: Nadia rips grass out of the ground and generously offers it to the cat. Round 6: Nadia uses a branch to entice the cat. Round 7: Nadia wins; the cat lays down for a rest.

Young Mom's

These are a few of the mom's from Martensville Baptist Church Young Mom's Group. We started the group in February with 7 mom's and went until the end of June with about 13 mom's. I really enjoyed the group; getting to know each of the mom's more and sharing God's heart for our families was exciting. I just have to brag and say this is the best group of mom's to hang out with.

Over the weeks we got together we studied through "The Most Important Place on Earth", by Robert Wolgemuth who is a fabulous writer with practical, down to earth ideas about how to share Christ in the everyday happenings of life. We also studied some of "The Power of a Praying Parent", by Stormie Omartin. Most of those studies were lead by Nicole who hopes to have 4 more children, a total of 6 - Wow! Go Nicole!

I just truly appreciate everyone's honesty and willingness to share - it's what made our group a place to grow and learn from others. Thanks, all you wonderful mom's!
