the Sawatzky Nomad

We hope to keep all of our cross-provincial friends, and those abroad, updated with this blog. And maybe even hear from some who are long lost friends.

Miscellaneous fun

Nice tattoos Nadia.

Here Nadia is trying to stuff as many HotWheels into her kangaroo pocket as possible.

This is when I wonder why we have that pink princess chair. The package of TP seems to be the seat of choice here.

This morning Nadia was playing dress-up. I'm not sure she could decide who to dress as because she has on Daddy's sock and Mommy's shirt. At this point she was just trying to get it off.

Grandpa and Grandma donated this wonderful box. It's so big we have actually fit all 3 of us in there! We made a door, windows and skylights for Nadia to play with. This box has been a big hit - even with the bigger kids that come over. Posted by Picasa

Out takes

We were trying to capture some cute photos of Nadia, and we got some good pictures, but also a lot of silly ones.

More Snow to Shovel

Last Wednesday we got at least 12" of snow overnight. On top of a thick layer of ice which came a few days before. I was so excited that they were already grading the street that afternoon, when snow was still coming down. But what I didn't realize was that I should have moved the car. I watched the grader come down our side of the street and thought, "Oh, this is going to be great. They are going to do such a great job of ploughing our car out." I watched in horror as that was not the case. They ploughed me in! Ahhh. Now there was a 2' wall of packed snow around our car and I needed to get out in a few hours. So I went out to shovel. This first picture is of course after we got the car out.

Today we have more snow. Tim thinks about another 4 or 5". So I guess this is here to stay. So any of you who love snow and need to get your fix. We have a spare room and a toddler who would join you outside to play.

Hooligan Visitors

This photo was taken at the end of Lorne and Audrey's stay in Martensville. These are Tim's Aunt and Uncle. Nadia really didn't like Audrey at first, but I think it's because she didn't obey the, "just ignore Nadia for 10 minutes and then she'll be your best friend" rule. That's okay, they became great buddies. Nadia even let Audrey hold her - okay it was because Audrey promised to take her to see Baby Owen. By the way, Nadia is absolutely in love with babies.

Auntie Elaine obeyed the getting to know Nadia rule and Nadia was okay with her!

The highlight of Lorne and Audrey's stay was Nadia's new stroller liner. Nadia has a little baby stroller which is very sturdy, but the fabric liner is not - especially when she sits in it! So I brought it to Grandma's house and begged them to sew a new liner. No one humoured me - accept Auntie Audrey, who saved the day by taking on this silly project. In fact, we left the stroller over night with Auntie Audrey and Nadia's first words the next morning were, 'stroller, Auntie'. So she did miss her stroller, but it now has a beautiful, sturdy new liner. Thank you Auntie Audrey! Posted by Picasa

Authentic Chinese

For the past 3 weeks we've had the opportunity to visit with Tim's Uncle Nelson and Aunt JoAnn. For the past 3 years they have lived in Thailand. So it's not very easy to just get together. Nelson and JoAnn treated us to an authentic Chinese supper. Nadia enjoyed the dinnerware because it was just her size. She loved it so much she spent most of the evening drinking water out of this tea cup.

My new favourite food is peking duck. In fact Nadia liked the duck too. It was a great evening of trying new foods and visiting.

We also celebrated Tim's Grandma's birthday. She's a very funny lady. She looks so unassuming, so sometimes she catches me off guard with her jokes.

Mom's sister and husband, Audrey and Lorne are here too. It's been a great few weeks of visiting far away relatives.

Oops, we caught Nelson off guard here. Posted by Picasa
